Yi Outdoor 1080p camera mounted outside

Great outdoor camera by Yi--I wanted to show how I ran the power cord behind/underneath the base mount..as you can see the 10ft power cord is definitely long enough for this install...👍😄..

  • Mark, I have the outdoor cam as well. The sensitivity level setting is confusing me. To receive alerts during the day, should I have it all the way to the left or all the way to the right to receive alerts? Thanks!

    • Mark Her Thanks Mark! I have it set all the way to the right (high) for sensitivity. I only get alerts at night not during the day. I wish to get them during day also. Any idea why I’m not receiving them?

    • Will Sampson There are 3 options , low , med & High for Sensitivity and for Alert Frequency..High is all the way to the right for both options...so that means to receive Alerts you have to have the levels set to High on both which you will get alot of Alerts..I have mine set to High on Sensitivty and Medium on Alert Fequency.. FYI: you also have to all the Yi Home app on your smartphone to receive notifications.. Hope that helps...short answer is to the Right on High..

  • i dont know why YI diddnt put the wire going threw the mount. it would be cleaner install with wire hidden. plus you wouldnt have to worry about someone cutting the wire.

  • *Super quick to activate. I’ve tried others but this seems to set up flawlessly>>>**t.co/Li3aqUq6rG** Sound is not great, but that wasn’t my goal anyway. I’ve purchased 3 and will probably get more.*

  • Mark, did you have to drill a big hole to accommodate the USB A in wall? Most cameras have a detachable cord so you can run a much smaller connector such as a USB mini. Is there a way to open the camera and detach the cord? This is what is holding me back.

    • D M Yes it can be set to continously record to mirco sd card and yes you will be notified/receive alert within about 2 to 3 secs after motion is detected... No there is no timestamp when downloading from sd card or cloud..what I do is take a screenshot when I’m recording from the sd card because it displays the time/date during that process... Hope that helps.. The alert activity log has time and date when motion was detect just no timestamp display on recordings..I don’t worry about that to much because I have other cams that do have timestamps on them..of course Yi can always add timestamp with firmware update..

    • Mark Her sorry to bother you but I have two more question since I received a confusing response from Yi. Can the camera be set for both continuous recording and motion? Meaning if I am recording continuously and someone walks by, will I still be notified? Does the camera record timestamps? From your videos it appears not but is the free 6 second cloud timestamped?

    • Wow, you must have a lot of foot traffic to only add a few days on motion only but 4 days is really good for continous recording at 1080P. I was thinking of doing a 128GB micro sd but might reconsider. I am assuming the 32GB restriction is due to FAT32 formatting. With 3rd party programs, you can format a 128 GB from exFAT to FAT32.

    • D M D M I’m using a 32gig micro sd card which is recommended by Yi...but I have read others using 64gig micro sd cards..I get about 4days of continous recordings and then before the cam starts to overwrite the oldest recordings automatically...if you set to only record with motion I get around 7 to 10days..hope that helps..check out this video of some of my Yi cams in action:1.ibofivofal.tk/video/ma5m2H-r0KWzim8

    • Thank you. One more thing. How long are you able to continuously record on your MicroSD before overwrite and what size do you have?

  • The battery backup for garage door and camera is kinda genius. Thanks for that idea. Is the Yi camera still working fine?

  • “Hi we can't answer the door right now but the cameras recording” ? What was the audio coming from that says that?

    • ANIL PANICKER I'm using the white 2 prong 12ft to 6ft extension cords from walmart which cost around $1 or $2..I would recommed a 32gig micro sd card and a drill bit that can make a hole big enough for power cord from camera to fit thur if your mounting outside--the cam cames with everything else..

      Mark HMark HYear ago
    • Can you please recomend an extension cord from Amazon or somewhere else? Do I need anything specific to this camera?
